1. Bosch Series I 4 induction cooktop

This induction cooktop has a TouchSelect Control system, which allows you to choose both the cooking zone you want to use and the heat intensity from 17 power levels.

It also has a timer that adds a lot of security since it allows you to set it so that the cooktop automatically turns off after the time you designated.

Another interesting function is the sprint function, which allows you to speed up the cooking and heating of water and other liquids. In this way, you can have boiling water for pasta, rice, vegetables or whatever you want, in 50% less time than usual.

Similarly, it has a child safety lock, residual heat indicator, acoustic warning and memory function. It has three cooking zones: 15cm, another 21, and the most prominent figure with 28 cm diameter.

2. Balay 3EB865FR induction cooktop

We continue with a 60 cm wide model and three cooking zones of 14.5, 21 and 28 cm each. It allows you to cook very comfortably and intuitively. Thanks to the touch control, you can manage functions as valuable as the automatic start, which detects when you have placed a pot or pan on the cooktop and turns on the cooking zone on which this.

It also has a memory function that remembers the last setting used and turns the cooktop on with that same setting, so you don’t waste time, as well as a sprint function to boil liquids in half the usual time, and a timer with an alarm that alerts you when the food is ready, so you don’t miss it.

Its maximum power is 4400 W.

3. AEG IKB63301FB induction cooktop

I love this induction cooktop because it has a handy feature that detects the diameter of a pot or pan and automatically adapts the cooking zone to that particular diameter.

The idea is that if you use a small pot on a large fire, only the area in contact with the bank is activated, avoiding energy losses from the sides.

The touch panel is very comfortable, with intensity control, child lock, power on and off, and timer management. It also has a super exciting connection system with compatible hoods, which allows you to turn on and adjust the extraction and lighting levels of the hood automatically.

It is 60 cm wide and has three burners, 3700W of power, a residual heat indicator, and even a boost function.

4. Teka IZ 6315 induction cooktop

This well-known brand brings us an induction cooktop with a total power of 7200W distributed among its three cooking zones. These zones vary in size: 14.5 cm, 18 cm and the last one you can adjust between 18 and 28 cm.

The plate allows you to precisely adjust the size of the burner to the size of the pot or saucepan to offer more uniform cooking and take advantage of all the energy.

Other functions are the timer of up to 99 minutes that alerts you with an audible alarm, as well as the convenient “Stop & Go”, with which you can stop cooking for 10 minutes and then return with the same settings.

I like that it has independent power level selectors and slider mode.

5. NOXTON ITS644B1/B induction cooktop

We continue to compare an ideal plate for slightly more prominent families since it comes with four cooking zones, which have powers of 2000W, 1200W, 2000W and 1200W each. You can manage them by touch control to select between nine power levels and even program a timer that can go from 1 minute to 2 hours.

In the same way, it has other very comfortable functions such as automatic shutdown, child lock and overheats protection to avoid failures and possible accidents with the plate. It also has the residual heat indicator for each cooking zone.

It is about 60 cm wide, has an A+ energy efficiency certificate and is very easy to clean, mainly because of its smooth, rounded edges.

6. Siemens EH651FDC1E induction cooktop

With a power of up to 7400W divided into three cooking zones of 15, 21, and 32 cm each, this induction cooktop is one of my favourites. It also has up to 17 controllable power levels through a touch slider and many exciting functions.

One of the ones that seem most helpful to me, especially for lovers of French fries, croquettes and others, is the Fryingsensor. It is a function that monitors the temperature of the oil to adjust the power and prevent food from burning when frying.

Apart from that, it includes the sprint function that shortens the healing time by up to 50%, ideal if you are going to boil water for grains, pasta or broccoli, for example. It also has a temporary lock, child lock, acoustic alarm, automatic safety disconnection and timer.

7. INFINITON 316 induction hocooktop

We culminate this selection of the best induction cooktops with this model equipped with three burners of 3000W, 2000W and 1500W that allow the excellent heating capacity and high efficiency.

It is worth noting that the touch control panel has independent controls for each cooking zone and a residual heat indicator to avoid possible burns.

Similarly, it has a lock function and a quick on and off button that guarantee safety from children and pets and a quick disconnection when you need it.

It also includes a timer to have complete control of cooking times and prevent food from overcooking. It comes with a boost function, which cannot be missing in good quality induction cooktop and significantly shortens cooking times and improves energy consumption.

Cooking With Induction

The induction cooker is based on heat exchange from the plate to the pots and pans through magnetic friction. This friction passes from the container base to the banks, which must be compatible with this technology. The pots and pans become part of the electromagnetic circuit, being, in fact, the last part of the link.

In this system, an electrical current is produced that runs through the wires under the plate and creates an electromagnetic field that constantly changes at high frequencies.

The thing is, all that energy goes directly into the pots, so no energy is wasted, and it’s the pot that gets hot. Meanwhile, the cooktop’s surface stays cool and receives only a little residual heat from the bank.

The advantages

Induction cookers are efficient since the heat passes directly into the pot. In this way, it is unnecessary to go through long preheating times and cooking times are also significantly reduced. To give you an example, water can boil in half the time as with traditional electric stoves or butane gas plates or the like.

Apart from this, that speed translates into a more agile response to changes in temperature and plate adjustments. The moment you lower the intensity a little, the pot also reduces the temperature because it is highly responsive.

On the other hand, traditional gas or glass-ceramic stoves take longer to go from high heat to medium or slow heat because you have to wait for the heating elements and the glass-ceramic itself to cool down a bit.

Another great advantage is that they are straightforward to clean. The thing is, because the plates stay cool, food or liquids that land on them don’t dry out or burn, so you don’t end up cleaning up that tricky mess all the time.

Disadvantages

This system has two significant disadvantages, and both respond directly to price reasons. Induction cooktop are an investment because even if you manage to buy a reasonably affordable one, in the end, you will also have to invest in new pots and pans that are compatible with induction technology.

Now, it is likely that you have a pan or pot at home for induction and do not know it. To check if you have to bring a magnet to the bottom. If it sticks to the bank, then it works with induction cooktop. If there’s no pull, that means you’ll need a new set of pots and pans. Yes, if there is only a slight attraction, it will work, but probably not to its total capacity.

The other point is that they are more expensive than electric or even gas cooktop since their prices usually range from €200 in economic models to €450 or more in high-end models.

However, it is essential to think that all the efficiency they offer will later be reflected in savings on your electricity bills. Plus, the time you save and the convenience of cooking with greater ease and better control are priceless.

Main considerations

Before you make the purchase, please take into account a series of aspects that we believe are fundamental so that you can choose the best option for you.

So you can know precisely what is essential to you, whether energy efficiency, options and security features or even design:

Efficiency

They are already really efficient devices in terms of energy consumption. However, you can always give your savings a boost by choosing an induction cooktop with a high degree of energy efficiency.

Preferably A+ or even higher, making sure it makes the best possible use of your home’s electricity.

Ventilation

They do not need much ventilation since their work gives off low heat. So with the bell of a lifetime, you will do well.

Security

One of the tremendous intrinsic advantages of induction cooktop in terms of safety is that the surface does not heat up as it does in traditional gas or electric models.

That is, once you remove the pan or pot from the cooktop, it stops working and does not stay hot. For this reason, it does not represent a severe risk to children or pets that may accidentally touch them.

There are also models on the market that have child lock systems, preventing them from being turned on accidentally or with automatic safety disconnection if it overheats or is left on for a long time by mistake.

Functions And Features

Once you’ve done some price research and have a better idea of your budget, it’s time to think about things like the number of cooking zones and their size.

Most of the induction cooktop you will find have between 3 and 4 cooking zones, although there will also be portable or small models with one or two burners and other larger ones that can reach up to 6 zones. The smaller plates are usually less expensive, and the larger ones go up quite a bit in price.

Also, these multi-cooktops are more suitable for commercial kitchens as you will rarely need to have so many pots and take up so much space for meals at home.

That is why those with 3 to 4 zones usually have the best value for money for the home. It is also essential to look at the size of the zones, as they can vary from about 15 cm in diameter for small pots and pans to 28 or 32 cm for larger zones.

Then look at the distribution since not all the plates come with the zones in the same position. Think about which diameters you will use more frequently according to your cooking habits and what should be closer to you.

In some models, you will also have two or more areas relatively close to each other, making a vast area that can be used for large pots, pans, or even types of grills that you can place on an elongated site.

Sliding Integrals

They are the typical full kitchens, with an oven included, that slide into that specially designed space in your kitchen. It is simply a matter of sliding the appliance to almost floating, supported on the sides by the worktop. You connect it to the electrical current, and that’s it.

In these cases, keep in mind that the sides are usually unattractive, as they are always designed to be hidden. For its part, the control panel is generally on the front.

Independent Integrals

They are like sliding kitchens, but since they are made to be placed directly on the floor without having to slide them into an opening, the sides will not be covered, so in these cases, they do come with attractive finishes. They tend to be a little less expensive than sliders, and many come with the controls on the back.

Countertop Plate

Countertop induction cooktop are the models you can install directly on the countertop. They are just a cooktop without an oven, but with all the functions and features of the integral models.

In terms of design and aesthetics, they have the advantage that they look beautiful and integrate perfectly with the creation of the rest of your kitchen. They are pretty minimalist.

You will need unique pots and pans for induction.

As I mentioned before, it is recommended that, apart from buying the induction cooktop, you also make sure you have the suitable pots and pans to work with this technology.

In principle, they will be utensils made with ferrous materials that can work with the magnetic field generated by the plate.

Remember the magnet method to check if you already have homework with induction. And if they don’t work, you’ll have to find new utensils.

What should be considered when buying an induction cooktop?

The essential thing you have to look at in this type of board is the ease of use, which is generally given by a good touch control panel and various functions such as automatic shutdown, child lock or even the sprint function to boost cooking times.

Then it is essential to always look at the distribution of the cooking zones and the size. Never skimp on both size and quantity.

Is it worth investing in an induction cooktop?

Yes. You gain a lot in comfort and cooking speed since meals can be cooked much faster without using more energy than a traditional electric or gas cooktop.

You also get much more accurate temperature control even on the cheap models, and you don’t have to wait for it to cool down after cooking as the cooktop itself doesn’t overheat.

How much energy do they consume?

It will depend on the size of the cooking zone you are using and the level of heat you have chosen. The minor fires of 15 cm have a power of between 1200 and 1800 W, while those of 23 cm go from 2200 to 3300 W.

If you use the largest fires at their maximum power, the expense can reach 3700 watts.

If the kWh costs on average about 13 € cents in Spain, then at its maximum consumption of 3700 W, it can cost you around 49 cents per hour.

How long can an induction cooktop last?

Plates for domestic use usually have a useful life of at least 30,000 hours, which can be translated into about eight years if you calculate a frankly intensive use of 10 hours a day. So, typically, it will last you longer than that.

Is cooking with an induction cooktop terrible for your health?

This question arises for many users due to the subject of electromagnetic energy. Some people believe that these waves can have harmful effects on health due to long-term exposure. However, no studies confirm these supposed risks, so it is a very safe way of cooking.
